I wanted to share this portrait I made of Benoit Mandelbrot. Some of you might remember the colored version I made a few years ago. This was a reworking of that one. I picked a much more complex location to get the pattern from, and I took it down to black and white, which enabled me to laser engrave it. The dimensions are 24x30 inches, not counting the frame. It will be showing at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in Denver, Colorado in January 2020, which I am very excited about! I'm not going to be able to make it so if by chance any of you are going please take a picture for me of it hanging there!  :D

Check out the Mandelmap poster a detailed map of the Mandelbrot set in the style of a vintage map.
