(Other) music from periodic attractors in the Mandelbrot set

in 2010 I used Pure-data https://puredata.info and GridFlow https://gridflow.ca to make a Mandelbrot set explorer with sonification.

These days I would do it differently: instead of starting with C, using autocorrelation to find the period, then manually chosing an ordered list of factors by inspecting clustering, I'd start with an angled internal address containing the ordered list of factors, then use complicated maths(*) to find the corresponding C coordinates that match the dynamics.  And I'd probably draw the Julia set too.

(*) split the address into island/child parts, find external angles of island, trace external ray, use newton's method to find nucleus, then trace internal rays to find the ((great)grand)child.

Cool. I've tried in the past to (simply minded) just sum all orbits of an image and render them as audio.
Could perhaps be interesting when hooked up to some real-time zooming or animation.

How did you render the audio? It sounds like a software synth so I'm guessing you were generating MIDI data from the properties of the set, but maybe you did something else?

Pure-data is a soft-synth building tool, in some ways - indeed I designed 4 synths, and trigger them using maths over points in the orbits.  Not MIDI, but something similar (there are 2 variables per note trigger, instead of just 1 velocity for MIDI, and MIDI is only 7-bit).

All periodic bulbs as point attractors.....
