I just wanted to share my love of a 3D art gallery book that i picked up afew months back, Anaglyph projection really makes it special and a very unique experience. When i first saw it i was expecting a more academic based image gallery with familiar well defined fractals with a touch of 3D. That isnt really what its about though for the better (even if slightly disappointing for an academic nerd like me) it offers a much more abstract and striking fractal landscape with a good mix of well defined fractals (like mandelbrot and julia sets) as well as more creative interpretations of fractals, kinda hard to explain honestly but imagine some of the funky stuff from mandelbulber or the art section of the fourms. the book and paper itself is high quality and well binded. I think that some of you would get some real enjoyment out of it (i know i do) i cant stress enough how Anaglyph 3D utterly completes the package, youve seen 3D fractals projected on a 2D screen but its something else entirely to have your brain stitch it together as a semi-true 3D projection. There are some images that take my brain afew seconds to stitch together because of the sheer complexity of what its trying to process which is trippy to say the least. if any of this sounds interesting please check it out! : https://www.amazon.com/Fractal-3D-Magic-Clifford-Pickover/dp/1454912634/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=3d+fractal+book&qid=1596462496&sr=8-1

Thanks Deus,
I'm more interested in the method you used to make your avatar. I like 'infinite zoom' and have done some experimenting. Did you use the online 'gif-in-gif' or something else?

quite truthfully with you i didnt make this avatar, did a search on duckduckgo for "fractal avatar gif" and it was one of the first ones to pop up on a free avatar site that i liked. i in no way claim to be the maker so cant say exactly how it was made, but if i had to postulate a guess i would say that they made an animation in blender or some video creation software rendered in a resolution of 800 x 800 or so and exported it as a gif.

the real secret to these is to cut the gif in such a way as to create an illusion of infinite zoom by making the last frame appear as the first so it seems seemless. which is really easy for logistic spirals and most elementary fractals as they retain their overall structure very well in a zoom in or zoom out. so lets say in a 25 frame gif, the first 1-24 frames are a visual zoom in, the 25th frame looks the exact same as the first frame because of self similarity scaling. cut at the 25th frame and vuella, you have a seamless loop. good luck in your search, wish i could help out more but im not a gif maker myself.

I shouldn't have taken your thread off-topic. Thanks for the reply. I've been fascinated by infinite zooms since I saw the 'zoomquilt' series.
