Hello community!

I'd like to ask around for free video hosters besides youtube. Just on a basic technical level, are there alternatives? What limitations do they have? What was your personal experience with usability and functionality?

Thus far I have heard about vimeo and dailymotion, but haven't used those yet. Which others should I be aware of?

Thanks!

Peertube is recently-in-development federated software for hosting videos https://joinpeertube.org/en/ Not used it myself yet, though it's something I want to look into.

Internet Archive can host videos, recommends using creativecommons licenses, https://archive.org Discovery / social aspects are limited.  The transcoding can look terrible in some cases.  There was a 2GB file size limit at one point, not sure if this is still present.

Yeah, this peertube is a cool project I need to investigate further. Thanks for the reference!

But, beyond the few named so far, there is nothing else?
