Hello. This is the my first time on fractal forums, in fact its my first time on any forum, so please forgive me if I make any blunders.

I first became interested in 3D fractals when I stumbled over an article about the use of fractals in the VFX of Guardians of the Galaxy. Currently I am doing my dissertation project and am trying to use Mandelbulb 3D to create an interesting game environment for use in Unity. If anybody has experience of this, can point me toward any tutorials or is otherwise interested in this process, please let me know.

If you haven't seen it yet you might be interested in Marble Marcher (google it)
I think the code for this game would be much more interesting than trying to use Mandelbulb 3D to create game worlds (just my opinion others may differ)

Marble Marcher is a realtime raymarched fractal world where the user moves around like the old Marble Madness game (Amiga)

Hi  3DickUlus,

Thanks for your warm welcome and the head's up about Marble Marcher. I checked it out and it's very cool. It led me to do some research on how they might have achieved this. After a wee bit of research I concluded that, because I am from a 3D modelling background, and don't yet have the coding skills needed to emulate something like this, and only have a few weeks left to complete my current project, I will stick to working with Mandelbulb3D animations, bulb tracing, photogrammetry and voxel stacking techniques for now. After that though I intend to focus on coding a raymarching shader in Unity - you might find this tutorial interesting: I have some more links about raymarching if you are interested.

You are short on time, but MandelbulberV2 does voxel layers and mesh export. it is 64bit program that uses GPU openCL

Link to tutorials was interesting, i would like to learn Unity some day.

In respect to raymarching in Unity, you will find that the GLSL formula code from Fragmentarium will be easy to copy and paste,  (a few years ago i helped someone import fractal formulas into Unity)
