I can't seem to load any sound files in Mandelbulber v2.20 [EDIT: actually version 2.21-dev] on MacOS. Whether I try .mp3, .ogg, or .wav I get the error "Not able to load audio file!" in the dialog box. Is there some restriction on the audio data rate, stereo vs mono, etc?

Not that i am aware of in  Linux or Win10,  so i am guessing it is a MacOS issue. You may be the first Mac user ever to try loading audio

Ha! Perhaps I am the first to try it on a Mac!

Just as a test, I loaded the same audio file (a .wav file in mono, just to keep it simple) into Mandelbulber v.2.20 on my alternate rendering machine, a Win7 box, and it works fine. So it must be Mandelbulber's code for importing/handling audio on the Mac.

Unlike Apple's weird OpenCL implementation, I'm not aware of any audio weirdness, which seems to be otherwise very well integrated in MacOS and probably handled through standard system calls. (I'm not a coder, though, so I don't really know).

Any chance you or buddhi could look into it? [Oh! And it's actually version 2.21-dev, not 2.20 as I'd originally posted.]

I don't know MacOS, so it is difficult for me to lep in this topic. But we can try from basics.
Sound files are loaded using libsndfile. It could be missing in the system. Can you try this?:

Thanks, buddhi. libsndfile is already installed and up to date on my system. Just reinstalled it to make sure, but same error in Mandelbulber.

I have no idea how Mandelbulber is compiled for MacOS, sadly, so I may not be able to help much, but could there be some compiler flag that's incorrectly set? Does that even make any sense? Like I say, I'm not sure who does the compiling from source on this to create the MacOS release, just throwing ideas out there for you.

I found the problem and now I'm trying to correct it. libsndfile was not used during program compilation

Hahaha! YES!   That fixed it...at least for the monophonic .WAV file I just tested it with. I will test it against other audio files (stereo, .ogg, .mp3) later this evening just to be complete.

Nice work, buddhi! Thank you so much!
