Hi Buddhi,

first of all thank you very much. This time it did not show any error messages. It started to initialized Open CL and, referring to the statusline, to compile the Open CL programs... See picture...  And then it crashed with an offer to send to apple a report wich i did not (textfile). Redering via CPU works.

Cheers Sascha :(

PS. If you then you can look by yourself via teamviewer...

Can you set "Log verbosity" to 2 (in program preferences), run rendering with OpenCL (do crash) and send me a mandelbulber_log.txt file (it is located in user's home directory)? I need to see more details.

H Duddhi,

Did try also with verbose level 3

Wait until Buddhi has some spare time to look at it.   But out of interest, I will ask at the Mandelbulber Facebook group and see if anyone is successfully running the program on a mac (maybe not??).

Or you can change OS or dualboot with linux or windows.

Hi FF,

sure i wait. Good Idea, please ask if other mac user also do not see a log.... Change to linux (have already windows, no will) and Windows (No support for OpenCL) not possible unfortunatly.

Try to run this package. It logs more information (at verbosity level 2). This version additionally displays path to log file in Preferences window. The you will know where to look for the file.

Thanks,
it worked. I also understand why i did not see it. because it saves as a hidden file (a dot before filename) .mandelbulber_log. If i can suggest, please move the location of this file (please not hidden) either to /Users/sascha/mandelbulber/settings for easy of use or under the hidden Mandelbulber Dir in the homedirectory, see pics  :)

Beside of the pics i attached the log file.

Thanks for the support.

This location of the file was selected intentionally. First of all log file will be hidden, because is not an important for regular users. I think most of users don't want to see this file.
About of the content of log file which you sent. Was the program crashed just before you copied this file? Have you tried to render image with OpenCL enabled? Log file only contains information about the latest run.
What you should do to provide correct log file:
- start Mandelbulber
- enable OpenCL in preferences and select correct OpenCL platform and device
- try to render image
- if program crash, copy log file and send to me

Log file from you was very helpful. There was recorded flowing error:
Code: [Select]
PID: 14657, time: 38.844817889, Critical: OpenCl ERROR:  "Device #0: cl::CommandQueue()"  ( -30 ) (../mandelbulber2/src/opencl_engine.cpp:80, static bool cOpenClEngine::checkErr(cl_int, QString)
On StackOverflow I have found nice description of this error: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28100332/opencl-command-queue-creation-on-osx

I corrected the code to not use CL_QUEUE_OUT_OF_ORDER_EXEC_MODE_ENABLE. It will have no impact on rendering speed, because I finally implemented multi-threaded calling of OpenCL kernels.

In 15 minutes will be generated new dmg file.

There is big chance that it will work (I hope!)

I have just created one mode dmg file. There was other bug reported on Mandelbulber FB group. Textures were located in wrong directory structure.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EoQk11hZH2YmOBwBW0zNkktW09slYDoM

Step by step all bugs on MacOS will be eliminated and finally it will work very well.

Hello Buddhi,

I am happy because now my GPU do the calculations !!!    -> See Attachment

THANK YOU AND ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS POST VERY MUCH IN LOOKING INTO THIS !

It ist still unstable because rendering some examples generates error & crashing -> see attachment ....but as you have written (step by step)

Speaking of bugs, i had a short laugh because i wanted to write you the one with the textures. Anyway, based on you last file, i found some bugs by playing around:

- Missing preference parameter (language, UI Style Type, UI Skin) when 1st Run of program
- Error Message when choosing GPU first time -> See attachment
- Cannot set a desired image resolution (as a standard )
- Some examples produces a plain color image -> See attachment
- Rotate camera z-axis & y axis, missing buttons in the standard UI

But i do not know if this is the right thread for general bugfixing...
