My next problem is the usage of the depth-of-field option...how do I use it exactly?

I am trying around with just 2 keyframes and changing the depth of field - but I do not get it to work. When I render my animation, the dof is always the same to all keyframes.

Is there any trick to apply different values to different keyframes or is there only a "one for all keyframes"-setting?

will test this out.  In theory DOF should be animatible

BTW save settings to clipboard, then paste them here (or at the facebook group). Then we can easily check the reproducibility of an issue.

If you do not add the parameter to animation table, then it's not animated.
To make correct animation of DOF focus parameter, you have to add this parameter to keyframe animation.
To do this:
- right click on DOF/Focus distance parameter
- click on "Add to keyframe animation"
This parameter will appear in animation table
You can modify this parameter directly in animation table or using "Modify keyframe" button (it will update actually edited keyframe)

The same approach you can apply to any other parameter.

Thanks for this info, nice to know, I'll try this. Maybe also interesting for animating audio in other things...I'll find it out.

It is a lot of fun, especially if you have access  to individual instrument tracks. Just about all effects can be animated.

BTW,

a)if you read the section in the manual about this, I would welcome feedback as to making it clearer

b) additional tools are planned for Audio animation, so once you are familiar with the existing options, any comments would be welcome

Works like a charm to add things to keyframes  I have had some problems moving one camera-axis in one situation by sound, but I have to test this more as I am not really know if it was correct what I did, but all other things I try atm works fine.

Edit: Regarding the manual: youre right, maybe I should take a look into it  :D But I like 'learning by doing' so much...possibly I take a look into it later this weekend. For sure I'll find some more interesting things I do not know

a: on the quick I found this - do you really call

Depth of field

This effect simulates Depth of Field effect.

Depth of field enable - enables Depth of field effect
Update DOF - updated Depth of field effect after changing focus or radius
    Focus - focus distance
a manual?  :embarrass: Or do i miss something maybe?

Thats an easy to understand quick-guide....but nut very much...not really a manual in my opinion...
But on the other side, I actually do not know whats more to say to this function by myself...

Edit:
Same for other things, not really the topic, but actually I am reading

How to create textured 3D mesh

This tutorial was meant for Mandelbulb3D (a different software), but the idea behind technique is basically the same.
This technique requires the use of two pieces of freeware: 123D and Meshlab
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfdargqyglc
- I scrolled through the video - I actually have a renderjob running and can not try around, but I am asking myself how to get these 3d-models created with these programs or blender intoMandelbulber...the manual does not tell very much. I could only remember out of my head that I can open .fract-files...but also .mesh? Or do I have to convert them anyhow? I try around with it later, but the manual could be a bit more detailed here and there.
Edit: Ah, now I see that hes doing it in the "different direction" than I thought, the guy in the vid is exporting it...anyway, would interest me if its also possible to import a selfmade mesh into Mandelbulber anyhow...

To open the User Manual use Help menu in the program. This what you found was very old documentation for Mandelbulber 1.21

A lot of information there is also in tooltips. If you hold mouse pointer over any edit field in the program will be displayed short explanation of the function.

Ok, I'll have a look when my renderjob is done.
