(Problem) Cubic projection is ignored by displacement map

Hi,

when using textures for displacement and having the cubic projection enabled for the texture ... it renders planar projection for this texture.

Unfortunately it is an limitation in the program. I still have no idea how to implement cubic mapping for displacement map. It is some kind of vicious circle. To determine which side of the cube is needed to be calculated, there is needed to calculate surface normal vector. But for this there is needed to calculate estimated distance to fractal surface. Displacement map is a part of calculation of distance, there has to be calculated displacement. But for this program needs to know side of the cube...

I try do understand, but I am getting lost, when calculating the normals.

They do get calculated even when no displacement is loaded, don't they?
And they get calculated when a cubic projection of a normal map is loaded?
Shouldn't be the cube of the normals' texture the same as for the displacement?
