According to wiki Tips and Tricks section, "The 'Viewport Coordinates' is the 3D point that the camera targets. The Yaw / Pitch / Roll are the angles that are applied to make the camera rotate around this point.". This would make sense to me if the viewport coordinates would be the position of the camera and yaw, pitch and roll would be the rotation of the camera. However, it seems to me that "camera targets" in the wiki refers to one of the points that camera is looking at. Therefore, I am asking how to specify the coordinates of the camera itself. Do I maybe have to go from the viewport coordinates towards direction specified with yaw, pitch and roll and then I arrive to the the location of the camera. I am asking all this as I would like to be able to manually specify the location of the camera (and direction it is looking at + its roll) in keyframe.fract or other neccessary files.

Probably you refer to the very old user manual for Mandelbulber 1.21
For new Mandelbulber (2.12) there is user manual attached to the program. In help menu there is User Manual option which displays quite long PDF. In this document there is Navigation chapter which tells a lot of about camera and target and how to navigate in 3D space.
In addition in the program there is a lot of tooltips. If you hold mouse pointer over any option you will see short description what it does.
If information in user manual will be not sufficient for you, do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks. I was referring to the information in the http://wiki.mandelbulber.com/index.php?title=Tips_and_Tricks
Anyway, I am using what shipped from the ubuntu 16.04 repos i.e. 1.21. I guess I will upgrade to v2 and this specific issue of mine will be gone -> case closed for now.
