About lights ...

While digging again into Mandelbulber, I have a few remarks concerning a few topics.
This one is about lights.

Main light source:
I would really like to see an option next to [] Position relative to the camera which is called [] Bake sun position. Just for those moments, when travelling into a fractal and you are surprised by the nice lighting, and you just want to change your rotation a bit ... finding that perfect angle for the light is very tedious ;)

Custom lights:
I would really appreciate four features:
  • Changing the size of the lights and/or having the option to tune soft shadows for each light individually
  • Having the Common light options Cast shadows and Penetrating lights for each light individually
  • I am really missing the option to move the lights along the screen space (to/from camera | left/right from camera | up/down). Maybe by selecting an axis and using the mouse wheel?
  • Any chance to implement a custom falloff? ;)

Another point concerning Custom lights:

It would be really great to use negative values on the Custom lights' Intensity to darken certain areas ;)

I have future plan to modify interface for Lights and add much more options for individual lights:
- options 1 and 2 are doable, so would be implemented
- option 3 is complicated. Moving of lights need a lot of improvements (e.g. mouse dragging of lights would help a lot)
- custom fall off would be difficult. But could be implemented several options for falloff
- I would like to implement lights as a cone
- to add texture mapping for lights (projection)

I have not thought of using the mouse, at all. But a great idea. Like holding the 'k'-key and moving the mouse within the render would move the light lateral?
My initial thought was something like a checkbox at the light's coordinates. To switch between the world's coordinates and the position relative to the camera + distance.

Interesting ... this leads me to a completely different idea ... but you got alredy enough input from me :D

This can be very handy with volumetric light!!! :)
