Hi,
Relatively new to Mandelbulb3D trying to do animation.

How to avoid flickering on formulas?  All parameters stays the same on keyframes.
Here I am using Amazing Box/_PolyFold-sym and _Rotate.

Any tips & hints, please?

I have no solution, but I know that one of the imho best mandelbulb artists out there, julius horsthuis has the same problem in many of his videos. not sure if there is a solution if he hasn't found one yet.

happy if I am corrected here!

bit rot I think, that's where the math is breaking down and loosing precision or the cutoff depth around the camera is interfering with the surface

just speculating though 'cause I'm not very familiar with the source code  :-\
Resistance is fertile... you will be illuminated!

Hi Stu,
I put your params to my MB3D and I made some "discoveries".
if you mean the crispyness of the picture, this depends of many factors.
In my honest opinion:
First: DE Stop should be remarkable bigger then the raystep multiplier, factor 10 minimum.
Second: If you use formula with Scale factors be aware of the relation between picture size, scale and DE Stop. If you use small DE Stop (<1) your Scale should not have too many digits after the point.
Example:
pic size 1000 x 1000
DE Stop should not be smaller than 0.5
Scale should not have more than 2 digits after the point e.g.  1.23 or 3.67  and not 2.09847894
Fold may behave similar.
The Raystep multiplier affects directly the clearness but also rendering time of a picture.

I hope I could help a bit, If I understood your question wrong, so excuse! Feel free to precise your question...

best regards bobthemage

Thanks for all replies.
"Crispyness" of picture it's not the problem, bobthemage. Thanks for hints and settings improvements.
I think it renders fine. It's just the animation that flickers.  see link to animation clip  https://goo.gl/QHQU3U

Ah ok Stu! With animation I got some problems too. I'm afraid this may be due to the inability of Windows to calculate more than 9 digits behind the comma/point exactly. Even if you use "double" as format of a number. In addition, there are step sizes that result in inaccurate mathematically rounding up or rounding off in too small or too large steps, which can cause flickering of the animation. There are even differences in renderings between 32bit and 64bit computers that I found out. Not in the single picture, but in sequences.
