Indeed! Fwiw, each cell in the grid casts a single field line. These lines are plotted on a segment-by-segment basis. Start at A; gain A's vector field normal; move from A in the direction of the normal for a short distance. This ends up creating the end point B. Set A to B, and repeat for as long as desired... ;^)

So, lines can "escape" the grid that they originate from. Fwiw, check these out:
