Literal Burning ShipMandelbrot but the function is Hyperbolic Arc Sine (asinh)
Literal Burning Ship

Description: I discovered recently that the Burning Ship fractal is just 2 Mandelbrots and 2 Mandelbars connected. I whipped up a formula in Ultra Fractal that helps illustrate this. Compare it to a Burning Ship. See the resemblance?

Interesting found!

Alsou abs function could  be presented like:
Code: [Select]
x= abs(x)
or
Code: [Select]
if x<0
x=-x
else
x=x
endif

thus it is equal to conjugate function or - in certain quadrants.

So abs function is:
quadrant (x>o, y>o)  -> x=x  and y=y  -> mandelbrot set
quadrant (x<o, y<o)  -> x=-x and y=-y -> mandelbrot set
quadrant (x>0, y<o)  -> x=x  and y=-y -> conjugate set aka tricorn
quadrant (x<o, y>o)  -> x=-x and y=y  -> -conj(z^2) set aka negative tricorn

Thus burning ship is a mix of mandelbrot set and tricorn;)
Just that tricorn fractal is not very usefull for artistic purposes.
