...indeed most peculiar ???

original rendered with Chaotica black background?

afterwork with Filterforge added white and shadows?

I'm going to guess that it's something with the alpha channel done by Filterforge maybe the way it has stored the layers in the file. investigating....

Correct, rendered in Chaotic with a black background and used a filter in Filterforge, after that I finished and saved it with pse.  The same as this one, http://www.graphic-unlimited.com/photos/1603192517_186725394.jpg only instead of a black background I used a universe background created with filterforge. I assume that this one have a normal view.
It is also weird that I can only see it with the black background.??

I don't think there is anything I can do about this anomaly as it has to do with the creation of the original file that was uploaded.

I agree. If the original creator uploads an image with transparent sections they have to accept whatever the server does with it. I say 'merge down' is good practice to finish your graphics.

So I'll accept that ;)  It is not very useful to upload it again.  I will use .jpeg in future nothing can go wrong with that!   :embarrass:   :fp:

Have a nice day you all and thanks for explaining.  :)

...both thumbnails do not have the white background, they have been created with GD libpng on the main server, I don't think there is anything I can do about this anomaly as it has to do with the creation of the original file that was uploaded. Hopefully GD and/or libpng developers will catch this and fix it, although there may be internal settings for GD re file conversion that affect this, not sure.

The original image is transparent where the white or black background is. I took a screenshot of it open in Gimp but can't upload it as a comment.

When I left-click the image I see a white background. If I right-click and select 'view image' I see a dark background.

No! Only when I click to enlarge the background changes from black to white and  the shadows appear

How sad that the real beauty of it is not visible in the preview up here...
