Hey guys,

I have just started messing around with fragmentarium  and browsing through some of the examples has really interested me in what this program can do. I am a total beginner at programming and scripting but I am slowly trying to invest some time into learning it.

I was just curious to know if the program contains any example scripts that would let me orbit trap my own images/gifs onto a fractal. So far, I have seen an orbit trap mandelbrot example but it doesn't let me input custom images. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could provide me with an example script to do such a thing if there aren't any examples like that in the program.
Thanks alot!

As I said in the other thread use the code from shadertoy... if I can find time I will convert it for FragM.

Oh yes, I imported it in synthclipse a while ago. May I know how one could convert/import the shadertoy code to fragM? Thanks alot for your time!

Synthclipse is very similar to FragM so if you have the frag files you should be able to load it into FragM.

Send me the files via PM and I'll get it working if it doesnt work already.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks dude, it worked like a charm! However, I may have two slight problems. When I choose an image other than the nyancat png, it becomes a distorted giant circle with some remnants of the image inside it. Secondly, the orbit trapped sprites dont animate like in the original shadertoy code. Could you please provide some insight into these two problems?  Also, if its possible, could you tell me how I could change the Julia into a mandelbrot?

Thanks a lot for your help and sorry if I am bothering you or anything!

It does animate the sprite, just hit the animate button and then the play button, it doesnt animate in progressive mode.

Check the tabs on the right, there is a "Julia" checkbox, when its off it will render a standard mandelbrot

Load the nyancat.png in a viewer, you will see that it is 6 images side by side, the code reads using an offset based on the current time value, again, this only works when the timeline is moving.

I was just about to reply to you stating I had realized that :) However, I still have that "distorted circle" problem when I choose other  pictures from my computer. Is it probably because of the picture size? I do notice some changes when I decrease the size (as small as 16x16) but it still remains a distorted circle. Anyway, thanks for the really cool modification of this shadertoy code!

As I said, the nyancat.png is 6 small images stuck together . It will always look funny unless you do the same thing with an alternate set
The code is setup for the small 32x40 X6 sequence . So to use anything else wil require you to figure out how to adjust the code to make it look right.

Alright got it. Thanks for all the help so far   :D

    • Mandelbulber GitHub repository
You have inspired my to do this animation with Nyan Cat
It was done using Mandelbulber 2.14-dev

@buddhi you are mapping image to surface (3D) ??? while IQs code maps image to orbit trap. (2D)
