Gods and Fractals
« on: June 05, 2021, 10:39:51 PM »
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariamman

Mariamman, also known as Marikamba, is the South Indian Hindu Goddess of rain. She is the South Indian Mother Goddess, predominant in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Mariamman is also closely related to the Hindu Goddesses Parvati and Durga as well as with her North Indian counterpart Shitala Devi.

Here is different from wikipedia, Adi Parashakti, I think a nicer picture:

In India gods are alsou portrayed in space. Vishnu:

Vishnu with consort, these must be a flame fractals:

However somehow I found more appealing this.

Kali (dark or time), Goddess of Time, Creation, Destruction and Power.
Cutie, but there are no fractals even not a kalisets:

I think animations is the nicest throught maybe they are too colourfull for european fashion. I guess tropical climates just have more of colours than modest temperate nature.

The idea is that you can worship abstract Absolute without atributes but it is too abstract for most, so you can worship whatever you like with it's personal features as  reflected by human mind. Single distinct gods are like leaves on tree.

REMOVED non visible images.

...using the known to explain the unknown is logical.

no please don't repost those images, they are from unreliable sites, by that I mean they have file names like jh45jh6345jh345kj45gy6y53.jpg and will most likely be temporary

I have asked people not to use them in the past because they may not be around for very long.

It is much better to attach images to posts citing references as to their origin and copyright status.

I now understood: I checked the source. Those corrupt images are from a site damaged "https://64.media.rlbmut.com/cfb683ac97c3670d328038b29498bcd2/tumblr_ps2ayjF8dU1ru322to2_r1_1280.jpg" whick is from an unsafe domain.
Advice: Must carefull when posting images directly from a link. Better save the images on your computer as image file (JPG,PNG,etc) before posting those on FRACTALFORUMS how I posting images on FRACTALFORUMS.

In morning they seem to be down.
Most of non aviable images were animations. I think Lakshmi on silver whirlpool and Vishnu on rotating galaxy was quite a beautifull.

2 Lakshmi-s and one Shiva with astronomical background. No Kali as less popular gods have less good animations (and no fractals).
Maybe this could work for inspiration to a Mythology contests.

Looking with 3rd eye, as sight of wise man looking beyond dualistic oppositions...

Vishnu, not a fractal but pretty scenery noneless. Preserving the universe.
I can't imagine Jesus and Mary like that, as that would lead You down to the Hell anyway.

this seems to be turning into promotion of religious stuff and doesn't seem to have anything to do with fractals  :skeptical:

this isn't really the place for that, I appreciate your beliefs but not here. Can we bring the discussion back to how this might relate to fractals ? if not then please don't post any more of these, they are lovely images but don't belong here.

3DickUlus:
I don't believe in these gods to promote them, maybe they should promote themselves with miracles, they alsou have strong autoritarian tendencies behind the democratic facade. However they alsou have some interesting philosophy about 3rd eye, different wievpoints on same issue (blind touched parts of the elephant aka manyfoldnes of truth aka 7 valued logic) and so on. Most of their philosophy are conencted with religion throught, as in past ages.

But adopting fractal and space images in sutch conservative sphere as religion I found pretty (unusual/eccentric). So far there were just few sci fi Hollywood movies with that.

I must admit that I'm visually not at all gravitating towards most of these images. But I try to look beyond that, it makes me wonder about other cultures. And how ideas/visuals are projected, combined and applied in various ways. I want to advocate towards an open and forgiving culture here on the forum, a space for everyone and everything related to fractals and even more. Though I understand balance must somehow be kept. It's no good when 99% of all images are from only 1 user. It would be hell to see only religious topics, just as I would hate to read only deep math subjects. A bit of sense must be balanced with a bit of nonsense. Playtime is good, but nobody want to be in a perpetual fairground all the time.

I consider myself somewhat of an atheist, but for me stuff like music and fractals can be deeply spiritual. With gods, abstractness, supernatural, infinities and all I have a strong love-hate relationship. I don't want to believe in them, but still use them all the time. The rational part of my brain says that these things are just imaginary but useful concepts. And in that way, they are very real. If you say or think otherwise, my god will come after you. Not to condemn and kill, just to talk.

I think the issue here is "Can/Does fractal imagery enhance religious imagery?" And since a good proportion of earthlings adheres to a religion, that seems a valid question for those interested.

But since religion at almost all times seems a dangerous subject and people all over the world seem prone to hit one another over the head because of it ("I would strive for World Peace" said the newly crowned Miss Universe), caution, caution, please...

And about Alefs images: Though by physical appearance and roots I might be rather more suited for living close to the north pole than in southern Asia, I Do love colourful images of the Hindu gods. I visited India years ago and only looking at the fantastically coloured Hindu temples made feel happy!

And, speaking of those, there's definitely something kali-esque to be seen in Hindu architecture ;)
