Mandelbulb 3D meets google Deep Dream meets TAS Visuals "The Canyon"


Enjoy in 4K Ultra-HD, else compression kills too many details!

I saw the 360 "Canyon" video by TAS Visuals and thought: This must be cool in combination with a 360 Mandelbulb fractal and maybe some deep dream effects". 4K UltraHD ofcourse.
So I rendered a 360 Mandelbulb 3D fractal sequence with the right movement speed compared to the TAS canyon. Then mixed the fractal with a flipped version of the Canyon. Used a grayscaled and enhanced version of the canyon video as alphamask for the blending effect, so you can see the fractal where no canyon visuals are. This mix was the food for the deep dream process. This time I used the MIT places training set, so no dogs but many cool buildings and landscapes.

Will release the pure, quite slow 360 Mandelbulb 3D flight as a separate video and also a longer version later.

But also there compression kills a lot of details. Will also offer a 2GB download on WEARVR soon, but real cool version is about 8GB and has 350MBit  ;)
Well I think the massive details and color changes are problematic for every compression algorithm.

great video!
im a total newbie here at the forum, so pardon if this query has turned up elsewhere before:
i want to render a MB3D monoscopic 360 VR-video ( like the one here ) for starters with the intention to continue working with in other software (unity,blender etc.)but dont seem to get it right.what i gather,it should basically be just be to tick the "360 Panorama" under camera settings and render/export as jpg:s? or whats the workflow/settings?
this tutorial http://www.fractalforums.com/tutorials/t23857/ is as seen,aimed at a stereoscopic one.
greatful for all the help

p.s:additional question:
grateful for suggestions how to navigator-animate/keyframe when in equirectangular mode to preview results?switching between "common" and "360 panorama"creates crappy anims.
again:sorry for very newbie questions.just started with MB3D

Hi Fetish23,

just prepare the animation with the "common" camera. When flight path looks fine then switch camera to "360 Panorama". Do this for the first keyframe, send it back / update it to the animation maker (Insert actual parameter in this keyframe - button).
Then click "Processings" in animation maker and then only activate "Actual camera settings". Then "Put the values to all keyframes" to set all keyframes to 360 Panorama in batch mode.
After doing that I would send each 360 keyframe back to the main window and adjust lights, because you see now parts of the fractal that were not visible in common camera mode. Dont mind the warped look of the image at top and bottom.
Most of my 360 animations were rendered first as common animations and were later rendered in 360 by doing the steps I described above.

I am not really a big DeepDream-fan, but here it really Works :) Have seen this more than once and it keeps being awesome!
A question for you: I followed your tutorial for 360VR animations generated from MB3D, and I never would have known that it's just the setting of the cam to pano and then after assembling (used ffmpeg)  as mp4 some insertion of metadata...  :D BUT: my animation looks crystal clear and all UNTIL I inject the metadata (from a fresh download of google's metadata tool) the _injected.mp4 version looks horrible, blurred, brrr... Tried several times, no joy. Any ideas? I would so appreciate your help!
