any videos?  synchronized with the soundtrack that generates the patterns would be awesome (phase vocoder or paulstretch could be used for time stretching if you need longer audio for each frame to converge)

I tried to experiment with the decomposition of an audio signal into 32 frequency bands, using 4th order Chebyshev bandpass filters. And that's what came out of it:


As an audio track I used the beginning of the composition "Sunset, night, sunrize" of my ambient project Green Air;)

However, it is necessary to make an experiment with a large number of frequency bands, since it diversifies the Chladni patterns much better by applying FFT to the audio signal analysis.

I figured out the reason for the error. It turned out that in the current implementation of the Delphi Vcl.Imaging.pngimage module while storing the information in the zTXT chunk, the size is limited to 256 bytes. My examples had no more than 6 frequency bands, so the error was not noticed. You have 12 frequency bands, so the information was lost. This is most likely a Delphi developer bug, but I was forced to create my own CPRS chunk, which does not have a limit on the size of the stored information.

I did update the program to version 3.0. In addition, it became possible to save a preset in an ini-file text format, in which it is also possible to save a level map.

I tried to decompose the audio signal into frequency components using the FFT with a 256 data points size.
In this embodiment, the variety of forms of Chladni was also small, since at 256 points the frequency step is about 170 Hz.

I tried a fresh algorithm for converting sound to Chladni patterns. The algorithm from my program, Sound Art, was used as the basis, in which the sound frequency range was divided by means of a logarithmic scale with a given resolution and a fixed number of frequency bands in an octave.
In this test example, a frequency range from 16 Hz to 22000 Hz is used (126 frequency bands). And as an audio signal, a sinusoidal frequency sweep from 50 Hz to 5000 Hz is used.

I used normalization, so the magnitude is not changed.
In general, there are plans to create a program on this algorithm that converts an audio file into a video file, with the help of which each user can create an uncomplicated authors video sequence for his music tracks  ;)

In the current prototype of the program for visualizing video from audio, files in the .bmp format are created (for each frame). However, you can also make a list of parameters for each frame, and save them, for example in .xml format.
