The rules are as follows:

- Every user can submit ONE cool picture to become our fractal image of the month.
Images must be your own creation!  Production date is unimportant.

- Good resolution (HD mandatory, 4k preferred for print of calendar)
Images must be fractals, created with fractal software, post-production is allowed.

- To participate, just post in this thread and attach the image to your post. (don't use the gallery)
Please give it a good name, and add interesting info like software/formula used, parameter sharing is very welcome!

- The first two weeks of the month are for suggestion, until the end of  the 14th of the month,   00.00 hr. midnight  (A'dam time)
   Check your local time here:
   https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/amsterdam

- You can vote for each entry once (using our voting system bronze, silver and gold -  1, 2 and 3 points)
This voting period is from the beginning of the contest, until the 28th of the month. You can change your vote during the
entire period. Voting will be stopped at 00.00 hr.  midnight  A'dam time.  Check your local time here:
  https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/amsterdam

- Top3  will be displayed in in the Winners gallery when voting is closed, and at the end of the year in a best of the year
  thread/galleryslideshow.
  https://fractalforums.org/index.php?action=gallery;cat=25

- We want to try to revive the printed fractal calendar idea. So any submitter automatically accepts that his image will be used in the
calender if it wins.    (all money from the calendar goes into the further development of fractalforums.)

- After the winners are announced, the winning images will be presented in the 'gallery of fame' to honor the winners and their Art.
The winning images are presented in this new gallery, which will grow to become a "best of" gallery:
https://fractalforums.org/index.php?action=gallery;cat=25

- Post any questions, or suggestions you have here: https://fractalforums.org/fractal-image-of-the-month/70/fractal-image-of-the-month-discussion-thread/150

Please start admitting your best work now and most off all.... have Fun!
Fractal Forum team.

"Edge of Chaos" \( \frac{z^2+c}{\frac{z^2}{a}+1} \)  a = -2+1.2i, parameter space.
When a is large, this is a Mandelbrot set. When a is small, it is a maximum chaos monster with areas of space-filling Julias. Here the Mandelbrot is being distorted and swallowed by the approaching chaos monster.

Brass Cube in a Paperweight

Fractal itself is a in multiple steps modified Menger hybrid.

The used effects are:
-2 hollow Spheres (Primitives) with slightly different radius and different color.
-Outer sphere has a bit surface roughness to give the material a bit more presence (deeper parts are more distorted)
-focus distance effect with monte carlo algorythm, focus at the front of cube
-Invisible Lights from orbit traps (highlights on spheres)
-A volumetric light source in the center of the cube for inner light (the volumetric part makes actually the background sky, while doing nothing at the cube itself)
-Distance based nebula have been added for effect (minor additional effect around the outer sphere).
-NO textures or lightmaps have been used

After treatment:
-Multiplication of final image with itself to strengthen contrast (similar to gamma)

Fire Slug

This is a Doublebrot/Newton combo with a mix of orbit traps and embossed colouring layers
