To all participants in the Theme contest:
Just a reminder,  think about what theme you want it to be the next month.  For if you win, you have to tell me this, right after the contest has closed, but no less than a day before the new theme contest starts, the first of October.
You can send me a PM or just right it on the Theme contest.

A reminder to all those who likes to participate, don't forget the maximum size that is allowed here on FF.
Every month I have to upload your entries tot the galley of fame, and often they are to big. In that case I have to adjust them and it is inevitable that it will cost some quality.

So please remember, the maximum size is:  3840x3840 max XY seems reasonable, and 5mb as optimal for maximums.

Also don't forget that if you want to upload a better version in the 'Gallery of fame' than I did, you can always edit it yourself.

Greetings.

Really?  It happens to me regularly that I forget that there is a maximum size if I want to upload a picture.  For as far as I remember it was the same on the old forum, but only one picture a day.

Here's a 6000^2 image.

Here's a 6000^2 image.

As an attached file.  But not in any gallery.  I've asked the Forum team and it is not possible to change it for the contest only. And there has been a discussion once about the max. size and this is what they agreed upon.  I upload the attachment
after the contest to the winners gallery, and the moment I do that, I have to obey the rules. So to big? I have to make it smaller.
Clear?  8)

I am not discussing anything, just corrected your error and then correct errors in that idiotic response from lycium and I am done now.
You're welcome.

1. This is a friendly and fun contest for everyone whether you can spell or not doesn't matter.

2. Management reserves the right to break any ties in this or any contest hosted on FractalForums.org by whatever means they deem necessary... or not  :-\

The topic has come up and I advocate for a coin toss to determine the entry that would ultimately be listed as the official placeholder with an honourable mention for the entry that is not favoured by the toss, alternatively we could decide based on whoever shows the most grace, dignity and respect...  ??? ...especially at a time when we all need these trivial distractions in order to maintain our sanity, be joyful that you are able to participate and contribute in this community of rare and wonderful people.

I may not enter the theme contest for April because I chose the topic and some might feel that could give me an advantage somehow... but we'll see how I feel next week.

This is the Gallery size limit because these images end up in the Gallery, no mystery there, attachments are still allowed to be larger but for this contest it's 3840x3840

What's the idea of repeatedly quoting my (ancient in this case) messages out of context here? RU stalking me or what?

I see, but I need to consult with my toothbrush before answering and I left it in a hotel in Poland.

Oh, well, great, thank you  :)

The theme for June 2020 will be "Is this Art?"
Provoke the audience ;)

not to be provocative, but, that theme is not a challenge at all, can post any image and there ya go, answer is "yes" every image is subjectively art, not suggesting you change it, still interested to see what users come up with...

a theme, I think, should be like the subject in art class, everyone looks at the bowl of fruit (or whatever) and renders their interpretation, in this case it's the realization of the subject in an image rendered with fractal software instead of the traditional media.

Architecture is a good example as we all have fractal software capable of rendering architectural looking stuff, the challenge is: how well do you know your chosen tools?

...and before anyone makes any derogatory or belittling comments about my opinion, remember it's only my opinion based on a feeling, completely ephemeral.

should we have some basic minimal guideline for choosing the topic? like... uhm... must be a noun or adjective preferably one word ? I dunno, lets hear what you think...

Well, it is the choice of the winner. And until we change the rules..this is it. Off course the winner has the right to change it before the first of june.  Maybe extend the challenge to for example make it still an Art contest, but with a specific artist or style? Like Picasso or metal Art, a statue or whatever?   Maybe that's an idea?

Even though I just do not seem to make it month after month, yes, a bit of a challenge is the most fun for me too and definitely makes the contests more enticing.
But of course it's up to the winner...
