The rules are as follows:

- Every user can submit ONE cool picture to become our fractal image of the month.
Images must be your own creation!  Production date is unimportant.

- Good resolution (HD mandatory, 4k preferred for print of calender if you win)
Images must be fractals, created with fractal software, postproduction is allowed.

- To participate, just post in this thread and attach the image to your post. (don't use the gallery)
Please add interesting info like software/formula used, parameter sharing is very welcome!

- The first two weeks of the month are for suggestion, until the end of  the 14th of the month,   00.00 hr. midnight  (A'dam time)
   Check your local time here:
   https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/amsterdam

- You can vote for each entry once (using our voting system bronze, silver and gold -  1, 2 and 3 points)
This voting period is from the beginning of the contest, until the end of the 28th of the month. You can change your vote during the
entire period.  Voting will be stopped at 00.00 hr.  midnight  A'dam time.  Check your local time here:
  https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/amsterdam

- Top3  will be displayed in in the Winners gallery when voting is closed, and at the end of the year in a best of the year
  thread/galleryslideshow.
  https://fractalforums.org/index.php?action=gallery;cat=25

- We want to revive the printed fractal calendar idea. So any submitter automatically accepts that his image will be used in the
  calender if it wins.
(all money from the calendar goes into the further development of fractalforums.)

- Post any questions, or suggestions you have here: https://fractalforums.org/fractal-image-of-the-month/70/fractal-image-of-the-month-discussion-thread/150

Please start admitting your best work now and most off all.... have Fun!

thx for digging up that old thread. yep, still a nice idea, we should do this.
last test was when we had just started and too few members, now seems a good time.

Are the basic rules clear? any input?

3d, the idea was to encourage a nice monthly thread and active participation, and automating it would work against that.
also mayyybee in the future reviving the idea of the ff-calendar, using the monthly winners.

Let's start with June.

haha, I didn't mean automate that, but that's an idea too, participation would still be required via rating or voting and posting pics and such.  I do like the idea of a "picture of the month" and of a calendar. Yes, perhaps with more members now it might gain a bit more traction and get going as a regular thing.

What about commercial software?  Should we accept or deny it from particiation?  Because we ask participants to include the parameterfile  if possible   (I read that somewhere?)  I myself have no  preference, but maybe others have another idea about that... ;)

I see no reason why to deny commercial software, I don't hink any really forbids to share parameter files.
My call for sharing parameters (or even parameter files) isn't mandatory, just to make this whole thing even more fun.

What I mean is that with commercial software nobody else can use the parameter file if they don't own that same software.  I thought that other members might find that a problem.      :jabber:

I understand.
no need to exlude any entries based on this, everyone should be able to use the tools he likes.
parameters or even sharing files is purely an addon-goodie, optional.

Darn!
I was going to submit a fractal, but I didn't took in consideration the local hour or maybe it closed on June 14th instead of June 15th.
The first thread of the June Fractal Image of Month says:
-The first two weeks of the month are for suggestion (until 15th of june)
It is June 15, 13:46 hours as of now in Spain and all of Europe. And the thread is closed  :(
Please, for next month, clarify the exact day and the exact hour when the submissions are closed.

I did warn yesterday that I would lock the contest at midnight exactly.  I'm sorry that you were too late but I can't change that anymore I'm afraid.  Next moth I hope  you will join the contest again and thngs will be more clear and given more attention.  And I do think it is most simple to remember that participating is untill the 15th off the month, and that means midnight closure.   Again I'm sorry  :(

By the way, I closed it at midnight Europe time.  Check my last picture that I've uploaded to be sure I closed it at just the 'right time'

As minimum your phrasing was confusing and misleading. I am doing new fractals each day and I waited until last moment hoping to get something better.

Next time, please, be more precise. For example: until the end of 14th of july, London time zone.

I agree, that was clear as mud.
