 - 2D and 3D fractals are allowed, but only one entry a member.
 - The winner may choose the next months theme- topic.
 - To participate, just post in this thread and attach the image to your post. (don't use the gallery)
 - Start contest, the first day of the month, participate, during this time you can even change your entry, whatever, until the end of the 14th of the month. When the final votingperiod starts.   (A'dam time: Check your local time here:  https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/amsterdam

If it is too big, I have to rescale the image to upload it to the winners gallery. It is better that you do it yourself (quality etc).

On the 28th the winners will be announced and their fractals will have a place in the Gallery of Honor.

- We want to try to revive the printed fractal calendar idea. So any submitter automatically accepts that his image can be used in the
calendar if it wins.    (all money from the calendar goes into the further development of fractalforums.) https://fractalforums.org/fractal-image-of-the-month/70/pdf-calendar-2020/3263

Feel free to share your ideas with the FF-team, on the discussion thread.  (please not here) Or send me a PM.

Made with Jux.    Title:  'Ruins in the forest'

On an abandoned planet there are still after thousands of years, ruins of an old 'civilization' it is some sort of scientific laboratory.
It seemed to be left in hurry for everything is still intact. Yet, those researchers that the Galactic Union send to it to investigate, can no longer be found. The tunnelsystem underground is very complex and it seems to be shifting and changing. And some sort of swarming drones with an attitude popup in the dark slicing anything alive on their path. :scare:
They call it the bloody slicer planet now and nobody wants to go there anymore. So if you do need a job?
You can apply by mail. Good luck!  :horsie:

"Lysergic Woodland"

Ultra Fractal
Parameters https://pastebin.com/4MuC5a2H

It is not widely known that popular recreational drug LSD can be synthesized from a fractal formula.

The formula is:

where x=real(z), y=imag(z) and a1, a2, a3 and a4 are complex parameters.

This is known as the "Polyharmonic Pendulum".

In order to test the hallucinogenic properties of this fractal, I ventured into my local woodlands armed with a laptop. After only 10 iterations, I was able to view the scene depicted in this image.

One Last Stroll Through the Castle Arbor

"It wasn't always this overgrown." The Queen's voice bore an edge of disdain, her weathered eyes scanning lines through patches of flora that had once let the sun through. The day was warm enough as it was, but such thick shadows painted the walkway that the spots of light breaking them apart through the leaves of the trees seemed but fireflies dancing along the ground with the wind. The King on her arm, gods but he looked so frail compared to the man she had once known, shook his head with a raspy chuckle, which of course brought on a small coughing fit.

"We were...a nation at war." He cleared his throat and dabbed at his mouth with that red handkerchief he always wore these days. A wise choice for the morale of his inner circle, but a constant reminder to the Queen of the tribulations that had kept her up at night these past weeks. "With our enemies closing in on our gates and our resources dwindling, we had no time for keeping up our trees."

"And now...?"

"Now it seems frivolous for me to make that decision, doesn't it?" He tried to offer her a waning smile, but she wouldn't meet his eyes, couldn't meet them. Not with tears in her own. She had promised to be strong! Queens always had to be. So why was this so hard? As they rounded a corner, the King sighed and his gaze trailed out front of them once more. A break in the trees let the evening sunlight through, the mist and dust in the air catching the warm rays and splaying them out in beams of light that danced among the trees as they stirred in the breeze. "My mother once told me a story..." The Queen's eyes shifted to look down at her pale husband, fixating on him. "That seeing rays of light such as those were a good omen. She explained to me that they were the hands of the gods reaching down to caress the earth, and anyone who basked in their light would be blessed with good fortune. So every time I saw a patch of light like that, I stepped in and soaked it in, and in my childish mind, I swore I could feel the love of our gods on me." He looked around, and then up at her, meeting her gaze. "The years of the war tested my faith. Now though, I've realized I did have good fortune in the end. Here we still stand, a monolith above our kingdom, and our lands are at peace once more. Prosperity is showing it's vibrant green roots once again." In spite of herself, the Queen smiled, blinking away a tear that escaped her and trickled down cheek just starting to show the signs of old age.

"The histories will mark you down as one of the best kings to serve the nation. You were fair, firm, and did all you could to see that your people reaped the rewards of their efforts for the kingdom." She clutched at a pallid hand that seemed so cold, even though it still gave off warmth. "Your name has rung out across miles, across oceans, from House to House and kingdom to queendom. Those not cursed with foolish ambition and fleeting thoughts of glory and riches have welcomed you into their homes with open arms and ready smiles. Your reign saw unprecedented unification, especially after the war."

"It is not just my name, darling. It is our name." For a moment, those deep green eyes blazed with the fire of youth, a flame that burned so hot it scoured away doubt and weariness like cinders off of a burning paper. "A king stands as a monument but he does not stand alone. Our Kingdom's prosperity has as much to do with that beautiful, calculating mind as it does with my firm hand. I have all faith that it will continue to prosper under you." The Queen gritted her teeth and cursed herself under her breath as she wiped at her tears with her sleeve, but she couldn't stop herself from pulling him in to hold him close. This man, who had weathered battles undefeated, who had commanded an entire kingdom to a peak in its history, had been broken down in months by something they could neither see nor understand. It was an irony too great to comprehend, and yet...life had to go on. "Come now my Queen...the day wanes and my weary bones call on me to let them rest. Let us walk through the hands of our gods, so that they might bless my slumber tonight, and bestow upon me the good fortune of being welcomed into their arms." Arm in arm, King and Queen passed through the falling rays of light, painting their fine clothes with dapples of soft orange light amid the dust in the air, which obscured them as they entered the shadows once more and rounded the corner to head back to their home.

Art done solely in Mandlebulb3D. Story is an original writing of my own made to supplement this piece. It was a blast to work on, I hope you all enjoy!

Under the canopy

It's like when during summer you lie under the trees and watch the skies... + the magic of midsummer nights. + an apples.

I think 2D exploration is more fun jet 3D have more artistic appeal. I used this spot for testing color method "Mega Discrete Lagrangian Descriptors". Closer looks shows "equipotential lines" of pure DLD.
