Patience, young padawan :). If you think that is a slow fractal, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

If you are still in the planning stage, and want to iterate more quickly on variants, then try to work with lower resolutions and lower frame rates. Usually there is no real need for high quality pixels when you are still exploring and experimenting.

Hahaha, yeah.
I totally understand the feeling.

I recently finished rendering a 30 second animation that took over 1300 hours to render time (that's about 55 days and nights straight of constant render time).  :)

Performance numbers without specifying the hardware used is not really informative (also no resolution info etc)... still, I'm a little surprised at how long you guys are waiting for your animations :O

Here's an animation loop, just a simple test, rendered with fully unbiased (max bounces set to 16k) path tracing, took a day to render at 4K 60fps on an RTX 2080 Ti:

Sorry - I should have clarified my comment!

For the comment about the 1300 hour video, that was a render using custom software I programmed, and not Mandelbulb3D - which is why it was so slow. :)

I got that part (mine too), but you still didn't mention the *hardware* used :)

Hi lycium.
"took a day to render at 4K 60fps on an RTX 2080 Ti"
Was that a 24 hour day or just a 12 hour day?

24 hours, maybe a little over (I didn't time it exactly), mostly overnight but I was also using the computer while it was rendering something like 1/3 of the time. Also my 2080 Ti is a triple slot cooled monster that sits well over boost clock basically the whole time.

I would like one of those monsters. Having 2 of them would take 6 pci-e slots. Here is a motherboard that has 7 slots:
