No idea if there's any way I can influence this myself, but hard returns seem to get lost when posting either in a thread or in pm. Not all of them, but most. Is it me?

At application startup I got some messages about missing quicktime dlls:

Qt5Cored.dllQt5Guid.dllQt5Scriptd.dllQt5Xmld.dllQt5Widgetsd.dll

Not really handy when you actually typed a neat list  Also, it does not exactly enhance readability to get a big block of text without any paragraphs.
Any idea?


Update: forgot to say: had to modify message to re-add the hard return before 'Any idea?' For some reason modifying a message after posting always works, sadly enough there's no way that that 'll work in pm's

Sabine, it seems you use an unusual browser and probably a bit buggy based on QT (which is not Quicktime).  Your startup message is about missing debug dlls (names all end with d, non-debug dlls don't) which shouldn't be required in a public release build. Suggestion: use an other version of your browser or another more standard browser.

heads-up, the message was not generated by Sabines browser, it's just arbitrary text from another message - (hard return here)
seems to work? (again x2)

if your "numlock" key is not lit then the "enter" key on the keypad has a different internal numerical value than the "return" key on the keyboard, for differentiation they all need a unique value. your browser may be using "literal" values instead of generic "return" values... just a guess?

Fraktalist: with hard return I mean pressing the Enter-button so my text will continue on the next line or so I can create a blank line. Like the <br> in html

I am on a simple Firefox-browser, on auto-update. My numlock is Always on, I can't live without my number keyboard 

And like the little dll-list I posted earlier, it Really looked like a neat list, the hard returns only vanish as soon as I click "post" on here Mind you, not all of them. Sometimes a hard return is a still a hard return after I have posted. I never have this problem Anywhere online...

One more thing: Fraktalist and 3DickUlus, you are both moderators and maybe have different settings somewhere?
I have just looked at the Preview of this message... and the extra hard return after "keyboard" that should have generated a blank line is gone... I now inserted another hard return, I see 2 blank lines, but get just 1 after posting :}

 Can you see this messages in html somehow? Maybe there's something odd?

In the html source for this page your last message is on one line, as they all are, formatted with html returns, not unusual

I'm wondering if the "language" or "locale" settings in the browser are causing the problem, I use FireFox too and don't have any problems, try the windows "Edge" browser

Hm, interesting possibility, but I don't think so... my locale and language are set to UK English (really can't be bothered by the lousy translations Microsoft throws at us Dutchies  ), and my keyboard is United-States_International, which is pretty basic. Also, no problems on other forums...
And Fraktalist possibly has a German locale (and language setting) without experiencing any problems?

Btw: no edge, am stubbornly still on win7 as win10 is too cozy with its mothership to my taste;)

Ok, found it! For some reason Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default was checked in my profile...
Unchecked it and the hard returns love me again
