Wow, how did I miss that - thanks for pointing it out!

I changed the gallery comment order to match the forum order. oldest on top, newest last.

edit: I just found a setting that sets a maximum size for images posted with the img-tags.
https://fractalforums.org/fractal-image-gallery/18/new-test-old-gallery-lightbox/309/msg1518#msg1518
seems like the same behaviour as ff1.com now. besides the full-filesize image loading, I think that is currently the best solution between tiny thumbnails and huge images with scrollbars.

I think somebody is jealous that there is no way to automate a gallery post from an attached image in a thread   :sticking_out_tongue:

No way to automate.

It did give me the idea to screenshot the thread images (attached or linked) and upload to my User Gallery with a (View Topic:) link back to the thread post. 8)

That view so much nicer than seeing thumbnails in Recent Posts, and infinitely better than seeing thread titles in Recent Topics.  Adding a link to Recent Pictures to the menu bar would be really handy.

Button added in Yorky (hit ctrl + f5 if you don't see it)
still causes issues, recent topics now overlaps the searchbar and is unclickable in smaller browser windows.
I don't know a good solution for this yet. personally I would be happy removing the button "new replies" and if sock doesn't mind also "recent posts" as I never use them. (only yorky!)
if someone has a good idea where we could put these buttons without hiding them...
maybe add a dropdown to the top navi called "recent" and then put all the buttons in there?

any thoughts?

I never worry about what you do with Yorky   ;)

As for the recent images button, why not in the drop down you get when mousing over the Gallery link up top?

I don't use any of the "Recent" links up top.

The Recent Posts button is at the bottom, and as you know that is my most used page on the site.

But drop down menus are the best answer for any responsive theme!  I hate it when they hide stuff in such a way that it becomes inaccessible  (or overlap stuff with the same result).

There has to be a better way for responsive themes to handle things like that, but since we're stuck with what we have - drop down menus are the best choice as I see things.

can this happen?

allow the author of a post in the gallery to attach files with the extension .zip .7z .gz .(other archive suffixes) for parameters or frags that go with the image. or at least allow these extensions in thread comments. ???

not planned, we decided against any of these filetypes as measure of security.
I don't know if it is possible to allow attachements in gallery - sockratease?

as workaround, you can attach frag-files directly and up to 5 per post (we could raise this number if it helps).
also, if you need any other filetypes (that are not known to be risky like zips or exes) let us know and we add those to allowed filetypes.

??? ok so no archive file extensions, are you going to remove mis-named files when people circumvent the restriction by re-naming an archive with an extension that is up-loadable? I see a number of people have done this, including me  :-\

It's a fine line we are walking there.

We'd prefer people not rename zip or other archive files.  File attachment size is quite generous and most popular parameter formats are allowed.

As Frank said - if a format you want is not on the list, please let us know and we'd rather add more than have changed extensions!

Security is important and archive formats, exe or app formats, xml format, and misnamed extensions are among the ones all the security people say should not be allowed  (but they also say that large attachments for images are dangerous, so take that with a pillar of salt!).

If you want to post large archives of parameters or actual programs we have a Downloads section where those will be allowed.  Ask about how to upload there if you want to add to the collection.

I suppose it's just a matter of convenience when you have 4 or 5 frags that belong in a folder together. I can live with the rule :-X

another problem with the auto-generated threads:
https://fractalforums.org/fractal-image-gallery/18/4k-best-of-sink-knighty-chromatic-jack-sinkerr-3d-fractals-and-music/455/msg2240#new

I think that is quite pointless. a thumbnail instead of just embedding it in the post.
why use the gallery to add videos that are hosted elsewhere?
