sock, I don't know, what is new about that or what does it solve?
now we have a small thumbnail. a cliick on it leads to the same small thumbnail in a lightbox. but a click on the thumbnail should lead to the full image.
Haviung to click on a link below the thumbnail that then leads to a gallery page, where when you click on an image you get a full view.. thats so uncomfortable. 2 more clicks with page reload.
this must be possible in a simpler way.

The medium thumbnail might work.

This gallery is configured horribly, but it's the best we can do.  The problem was that we were displaying full resolution images in threads, and unexpecting mobile users would get their bandwidth eaten up fast.

What this accomplishes is the only way to display a thumbnail via settings.

Delving too deep into the actual code is going to take a lot of time to learn how it works.

There should be ways to accomplish a lot more than we can do with the gallery via it's controls - but as it is any further customizing requires altering it's source code.

Even making back ups first, I hesitate to do that until I have a lot of time to devote to learning it, which will be a while.

We could make larger thumbnails in the gallery, I suppose - maybe 500 x 500 max?

That may help...

I was able to modify the Fractal Image Gallery generated post of my image to reduce the image width.
I was prompted to add a Prefix which I did.

All the other posts missing a Prefix should also be able to be modified.

See attached image

Also, thanks for getting the Fractalforums - Info Center  working.

We need such things to be automated.

Can't expect everyone to manually edit their posts.

Also, that is not a thumbnail - it is the same full sized image just displayed smaller.

It's not about the display size, we're trying to get real working thumbnails in the threads the gallery generates.

Even if the thumbnail opens in a lightbox instead of linking to the gallery post.  The thumbnail only does that because of the lightbox mod interfering with the way the thumbnail is intended to display by the gallery.  The gallery wants the thumbnail to be static and the link below it to be used as a means to see the gallery post.  It's a bit of a conflict I don't think we can resolve without disabling the lightbox.

This is the main point I was trying to make.
Sorry for the confusion.

Is it not possible to add a prefix to older posts? It should show when editing the first post in a thread.

Works for me, but that might be due to admin rights. no images by our Test User I could now test that with.

Editing old posts should give the prefixes, but I am not sure there is a way to force the gallery to use them.

The prefixes will just have to be incomplete since the gallery does not always know what to do with them.

Maybe we should reconsider a "Linked To Gallery" board and see if we can make it a place only the gallery can start threads but everyone can post replies?

Otherwise I don't see how we can make the prefixes universal in this section.

Wrong gallery software.

We use smfhacks Gallery Pro, not smfpacks Multimedia Gallery.

So thanks, but we can't make use of that information.  Unless you want to buy that gallery for us...

Design the forum around an old gallery mod. :))

The screenshot shows the Multimedia gallery creates a prefix.
Maybe ask if that can be worked into the old Gallery Pro mod.

This IS the newest and quite current Gallery.

The gallery you are looking at and ours are made by totally different people!

smfPacks vs smfHacks.

Our gallery is made by smfHacks - not smfPacks.

I doubt they work together, and smfHacks did not make the prefix mod - smfPacks did.

So they would have zero familiarity with the prefix mod and I doubt they'd want to try to work it in for us since it's nothing to do with them.

My mistake
I apologize.

Does the Gallery Pro still have support?
Would they be able to explain how to integrate the Advanced Topic Prefix Pro mod with their mod?
Would the Advanced Topic Prefix Pro team be able to help integrate their mod into Gallery Pro?

No apologies needed!  It was a case of mistaken identity   :elvis

And yes, smfhacks have been very helpful with their support and their gallery is actively maintained and kept current with all versions upgrades of smf forum software.

But just as the gallery people would have zero familiarity with the prefix mod and I doubt they'd want to try to work it in for us since it's nothing to do with them, the reverse holds and the prefix people would have zero familiarity with the Gallery.

It's nothing I think would happen without paying one, or possibly both, of the developers.

But it's good thinking!

Nothing stupid happened.

The names smfhacks and smfpacks are very similar and they both make a gallery.

I doubt you were the first to confuse them.  And I also doubt you'll be the last!

With ideas, things don't all work - but as I love to say; Too Much Is Better Than Not Enough.

We'll find a way to either get things working as desired, or consider segregating the gallery generated threads into their own board so prefix filtering works on all content in this board.
