Image previews in "View the most recent posts on the forum"

Why do only some images in threads show up in the "view most recent posts on the forum" list and others do not?

It used to be all images within the new posts would show up.  If I saw something interesting I could then click to open the thread for more info.  Now, unless I open every thread in a new tab I do not know if there is an interesting image with it.

Having all the images makes checking for new content a quick scroll through a few pages rather than individually opening threads.

It would be nice to have the old way back.

I've just been looking at the "recent posts" page at FF1 and it seems the same as FF2 images in BBCode tags [img]...[/img] and vid links [vimeo]...[/vimeo] show up but I think attachments don't.

Can you point me at an example in "view most recent posts on the forum" list? ie:one that shows the image at FF1 and the same type not showing at FF2 where both are links or both are BBCode or attachments ?

OK, my mistake then.  I assumed all the images showed up no matter how they got attached/linked.

It must be the case that more people use the attachment now rather than linking.

You can ignore this request (unless there is a way to enable attached images to be previewed)?

indeed, attachements don't show in the recent posts list. doesn't work currently.
3d, if you have an idea how to change this, feel free to give it a try.

Pseudo code

...find the bit of php code that displays "recent posts" list ;
...scan posts for attachments ;
...if image file extension exists, locate the thumbnail(s) for (all) attachment(s) that is(are) image(s) ;
...inject thumbnail references into each item in the  "recent posts" list  ;

something like that, not terribly complicated but every time I customize the source the chance that the install/uninstall routines of some mod/package will break

...but it is a good idea...thinking about it
