Is there a setting to increase the width of the BBCode editor text field.

See attached for comparison to gallery comment text field.

Maybe customized on V1? (vertical and horizontal control)

I have no clue. It's strange that the values that should change the width and height of the editor do absolutely nothing, neither in dilber nor in yorky.

We don't know about customizations at v1, that was all Christians stuff. We tried contacting him and hope he will register here, but no response yet.

We'll leave this request open and see if he can help us on that.

Editor textbox width/height on V1 is not a fixed value.

It might be a checkbox setting labeled something like fixed or resize?

Found in SMF online manual

Might be relevant?

Input Settings

Field Type - You will see the following options:
Text - This is a simple text field, similar to the one that you use when you log into your forum. You can define the maximum number of characters that users can enter in the field. The default is 255, or use 0 for no limit. It is also possible to choose whether to allow BBCode.
Large Text - This is what is known as a text area, or the bigger text boxes. Maximum length is the maximum number of characters permitted in this box. Dimensions, in rows and columns, represent the height and width (in characters) of the box. Select Allow BBC if you want to permit the use of Bulletin Board Code.

hey anon, I tried raising the columns from 60 to 90 but this changed nothing either.
what section of the manual is your quote from, what is the context? where do I find these settings? are we still talking about the subs-editor.php file?

I do not know anything about the subs-editor.php file.

Editor textbox width/height on V1 is not a fixed value. (Set to 0 for unlimited?)

SMF2.0:Features and Options - Online Manual (Input Settings)

SMF2.0:Posts and Topics - Online Manual
Numerical Input Settings: Maximum allowed post size - Set the maximum characters you wish to allow in a post.

Waste of your time to continue with this?

thx, this helps to find my way around.
the input settings are for profile fields, with these you can add stuff into the profile view on the left of each post, so you could add a text field there.

the maximum post size is already pretty large with 80000 characters. has nothing to do with the actual size of the input field.

not really a waste of time, but I don't know where to go from here. If you find anything else I could try, let me know and I will.

Currently that control only adjusts height.  ;)
Thread title is Re: BBCode editor width increase?

Edit: Just checked and width increase adjustment is working in the Gallery comments.

I am curious why you decided to resurrect this old post.
Seems like a waste of your time.

BBCode editor width is adjusted by style not column number.

Rich editor (WYSIWYG editor) style width is controlled by percent while height is by px.
This editor also changes the control to adjust height only.

This seems to override the width adjustment of the standard editor.

So this does not look like it can be fixed by a change of settings.

There is a lot of unused space to the left and right in Reply area compared to FF.com site.
Do not know if that is an adjustable setting.

Didn't know there was a WYSIWYG editor. Trying it now, and text after paste is blue for some reason.
The latex buttons seems broken, produce only the opening tag.

Preview button still at bottom as far away as possible from preview window, which makes composing messages with formulas a bit painful.

There was an "Additional Options" button on FF.com to expand or collapse that area.
Also the Post and Preview buttons were centered.
