Hello!

I have been wanting to start a small fractal club.

Recently I started using Mandelbulb 3d and I am hooked! It would be cool if maybe a few cool cats from here would like to join a club with me. We could have a facebook group (/group chat) where we every now and then share fractals with each other. We could all create our own fractal on a theme and then share with each other or so. And give feedback and advice. Like book club kind of!

Anyone here interested? :peace:

I think there is a facebook group and you just joined this "club" so why not participate in the activities that are going on here?

Everything you mention and more is here... come play with us and have fun!

for instance... The Image Threads and The Image of the Month contests (there's 2)

There's also a Discord chat if you're interested in that, we even have some regular fractal competitions now: https://discord.gg/zEbYqtp

@Lycium it would be kind of sad if people find this forum only to be led off to other places leaving this place behind, but such is the nature of the fractal path we each traverse in our quest for knowledge and recreation

@NOSSBORN I hope you find what you seek and enjoy your time spent here.

Welcome to "The Rabbit Hole" ...

I don't think that's really a great way to think about a community. Rather, a community can be made up of several distinctive parts; Discord is particularly apt for quick responses and casual discussion, as it is live chat.

I am active mostly in that Discord server, but I come back here from time to time. However, I don't think this forum can meet everybody's needs, due to the nature of it being a forum. It is no sad thing to have alternative places for a community to gather, because we all share a common interest, right?

+1, it's not a zero-sum game :) I'm obviously very active in the Discord chat (which derives from the previous Slack chat, which was born from the ashes of the deviantArt Aposhack chat when that stopped working), but as you guys know that doesn't stop me lurking on FractalForums :) I was user #2 on the original FF.com back in 2006 when Jason Henegan invited me...

In general, I hope the fractal scene continues to grow and diversify, there are many interesting nooks and crannies (how many of us are checking the JWildfire forums everyday?) O0

I remember Aposhack! I'd get stuck on something, go in there, see the usernames of some well known fractal superstars, and get intimidated and leave. Sad to hear it's gone..

Although personally I liked the slow and methodical nature of forum-based communication. I suppose I like having time to think about how to say what I plan to say.
