The name dendrimer is derived from the Greek word dendron and the word polymer. It refers to a relatively new group of polymers that have a repetitively branching tree-like structure. They are basically the molecules I have posted about in the thread I refered to in the beginning of this post.

In this thread I will be describing dendrimers in general, how they are made, their properties, the different types of polymers, the applications of dendrimers and probably a few other nice facts here and there. I will be approaching the subject from both chemistry and a mathematical perspective and I will try to keep my explanations as simple as possible.
